Zell Am See Austria, 1st - 9th June 2019

For 2019 by popular demand we will be returning to Zell Am See and to one of our favourite hotels, the Der Waldhof, which is situated only a short walk from the town centre.  The town is surrounded by snow topped mountains and one of these is the mighty Grossglockner with its famous mountain pass which climbs to over 2000 metres. The pass starts only 10 miles from the hotel and is 24 miles long.  Also nearby are various cable cars, one being visible from the hotel bar, and many other attractions including boat trips on the lake and a local train station for a very scenic trip into Salzburg.

The hotel is 4 Star and we have booked it as All Inclusive, this includes an extensive breakfast buffet, lunch or lunch packages, afternoon cake and a four course dinner or theme buffet. Soft drinks as well as coffee, tea, draught beer, house wines and the local obstler (spirit) are available throughout the day up until midnight. There is also an outdoor swimming pool, 2 whirlpools, a sauna and steam bath. The hotel also arranges evening entertainment including live music.

We have reserved Single, Twin and Double rooms as well as Junior Suites. Zell Am See is 725 miles from Calais.  We will stay in Zell for 6 nights and break the journey both ways in Haguanah, France.

ITINERARY

Day 1. Saturday 1 June

The Rideaway will start via the Eurotunnel from Folkestone (times to be confirmed), we will be asking for a departure time of approx 9.00am. We will then arrive in Calais at about 10.30am  local time.  We then have a 380 mile ride to Haguanah, two routes will be provided either all in France or through Belgium and Germany. We are booked into the Ibis Strasbourg Nord Haguanah for bed and breakfast.

Day 2 Sunday 2 June

After breakfast we continue East and South skirting around Munich and entering Austria just short of Salzburg.  Then it’s a ride through the mountain valleys into Zell Am See, a distance of approx 320 miles.

Day 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7

The choice is yours. The Grossglockner is a must.  A multiple access ticket is your best option as going up just once is not an option. A trip round the lake, on a boat, of course is also good fun and gets you out of the saddle for a bit. We will provide you with a list of places of interest to visit.

Day 8 Saturday 8 June

We will return to Haguanah again after a hearty breakfast,  and again we are booked into the Ibis hotel. It is possible to alter your return route by taking in some of the Bavarian Alps without greatly extending your mileage.

Day 9 Sunday 9 June

After breakfast its back to the Eurotunnel for a late afternoon crossing to Folkestone. Due to the Eurotunnel group booking terms we cannot vary the train times for individuals.  However, once the booking has been made, individual bookings can be altered but only through us.  A small charge might apply.  This option gives you the flexibility to cross on the Friday from Folkestone and reduce your journey on the Saturday or even extend your stay in Europe.  You can, if you wish, opt out of the  group booking and make your own crossing arrangement.  Details are shown on the Booking Form.

If you would like to join us, please complete the attached booking form.  Numbers are limited and bookings are made on a first come first served basis on receipt of your form along with your deposit.
